The hand of friendship

The cross-community cooperation extended to St Joseph's primary school in Antrim, after it was forced to temporarily close due to an asbestos scare, was truly heartening.

Classes will resume on Monday in an adjacent parish centre and in nearby Greystone Primary School, which offered to help as soon as it heard about the difficulties experienced by its neighbour.

It is only a short-term arrangement as detailed surveys are completed, but it demonstrates the excellent relationships which exist between schools from different sectors across Northern Ireland.
