A MAN in his 60s has died following a three-vehicle collision in Co Galway.

The crash happened at the Ashtree Junction in Ballinasloe at around 6.30pm on Sunday.

A Gardaí spokesperson said the victim was the driver of one of the vehicles and was was taken to Portiuncula University Hospital, where he later died.

One other person was taken to hospital as a precaution, while no other injuries were reported.

The Ashtree Junction remained closed to motorists on Sunday night as Gardaí collision investigators worked at the scene.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward," the force's spokesperson said.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Ashtree Junction and Station Road areas of Ballinasloe between 6pm and 6:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí."
