AN investigation has been launched after a viral video appears to show a Dublin bus driving dangerously along a footpath and cycle lane.

A Twitter user posted dashcam footage on Tuesday, commenting: “So there I was, sitting in traffic that was stopped between Rathfarnham and Terenure when a Dublin Bus went past me on the inside, in the pavement and bicycle Lane.”

Road Transport Minister Hildegarde Naughton has called the footage “very concerning”.

A Dublin Bus spokesperson said the matter was “under investigation and will be investigated fully,” while a statement from An Garda Síochána said inquiries have started “into an alleged incident of dangerous driving.”

The dramatic footage prompted many road users to post their concerns on Twitter.

One woman commented: "Imagine if a child had run out one of the gardens onto the footpath.”
