GARDAÍ are investigating the death last week of Ronan Donohoe at a house in Co Laois, it has emerged.

Mr Donohoe (41) uncle of the late schoolboy Noah, died last Wednesday at a house in Stradbally, a town in Co Laois approximately 40 miles from his address in Co Wicklow.

In a statement released yesterday Gardaí said they were "investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male, aged in his 40s, at a residence in Stradbally".

“A post mortem has been completed on the body of the man, the results of which are not being released for operational purposes. Investigations are ongoing.”

It is understood gardaí are not treating the death of Mr Donohoe, originally from Strabane but with an address in Co Wicklow, as suspicious.

The investigation is being carried out under the provisions of the Coroners Acts, when a death occurs suddenly and where an inquest will later be held.

Mr Donohoe was buried on Monday following Requiem Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Shillelagh, close to the village of Tinahely, where he had an address.

Tributes were paid to Mr Donohoe following his sudden death, including from sister Fiona, the mother of Noah.

The 14-year-old was found dead in a storm drain in north Belfast, six days after going missing in June 2020.

On social media Ms Donohoe wrote her brother “passed away peacefully in the arms of someone who always loved him”.

Charity group, Feed Out Homeless, posted a tribute, describing Mr Donohoe as a “funny” and “vibrant” man.

“It has been brought to our attention of another passing within the homeless community.

“We knew Ronan very well. He was always a gentleman, funny, vibrant, and always had a story. He loved music.

“He will be missed by family, close friends and every person he encountered through his time here. He just had that personality that captured you.

"RIP Ronan. May you get the best bed".

A funeral notice read: "Loving brother of the late Siobhan, sadly missed by his loving parents Gerry and Margot, Linda, brother Gearoid, sisters Shona, Niamh and Fiona, nieces, nephews and life long friend Ambrose, extended family, relatives and many friends."
