A MAN is due to appear in court after trouble erupted at Dublin Airport.

Gardai are investigating after the disorder broke out at Terminal 1 yesterday.

Video footage, which has been circulated on social media, showed a number of men fighting for around 10 to 15 minutes. Passengers and airline staff can be seen moving away as three men punch and kick each other.

A number of people were refused permission to fly and one man was treated in hospital for his injuries.

Gardai said another man was charged and is due in court on June 14.

The violence comes just weeks after a new garda station was opened at the airport.

The Republic's Minister for Justice Helen McEntee last night said it was "absolutely not acceptable" adding that an assessment was needed of the incident, the garda response time and how it can be improved.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris condemned the violence and said an investigation into a number of assaults was under way.

He also said gardaí would examine their response time.
