Irish comedy duo apologise for offensive content they posted on their social media accounts

AN Irish comedy duo has apologised for offensive content it posted on social media accounts.

The 2 Johnnies, who present the drive-time show on RTÉ 2fm, issued the apology after they posted a video which contained several crude references and featured quotes from a series of vulgar car stickers sent into them by listeners of their podcast.

In a statement, John O’Brien and John McMahon said they apologised "for the content which appeared on our social media, these posts were offensive and should never have been published".

"This is not who we are nor what we stand for. We aim to do better in the future, we are not perfect and we are learning all the time."

In a statement, RTÉ said it "believes in dignity and respect and does not tolerate material or attitudes of this nature".

The 2 Johnnies were take off air while RTÉ reviews the matter.
