THREE people killed in a New Year’s Eve road crash in Co Meath have been named.

Shane Gilchrist (23) and Saoirse Corrigan (21) from Co Westmeath and Julieanne Kehoe (27) from Co Wexford, died following the two-car collision on the N52 in Kells at around 4.15pm on Friday.

Ms Kehoe’s three children including a three-week-old baby, a one-year-old toddler and a 12-year-old boy, survived the crash.

The soon-to-be wed Wexford woman was planning to move into a new family home in Co Cavan with her fiancée.

It’s understood her two youngest children escaped with minor injuries, while the 12-year-old is being treated in Dublin’s Temple Street Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The couple in the other car were newly qualified teacher Saoirse Corrigan and her boyfriend, Shane Gilchrist, both from Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.

A teenager killed in a separate motorcycle crash in Dublin on Saturday has also been named.

Josh Boyd (19), died after his bike struck a lamppost in Ballymun at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile a man in his 20s has died following a single car incident in Co Longford.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 10.40am on Saturday morning after the car was found partially submerged off the road between Granard and Balinalee at Clonfin.

It’s believed the man had been travelling alone when his car left the road and struck metal fencing before entering the water.

The Garda Water Unit carried out a search of the scene and recovered the man's body from the water.
