Brothers die while diving in Co Tipperary quarry
TWO brothers from Co Laois have died while diving in a quarry in Portroe, Co Tipperary.
One was aged in his mid-thirties, while the other was in his mid-forties, RTÉ reported last night.
It is understood at around 1.30pm yesterday one of the men got into difficulties while the other raised the alarm before going back to help his brother.
One of the divers reportedly "surfaced and got out of the water before dying a short time later".
A second body was recovered from the water soon afterwards.
The water in the quarry is almost 40 metres deep in parts and is used by divers from all over the Republic.
It has been operating as a dive centre.
