Irish acts lose out in final battle round of The Voice

THE luck wasn't with the Irish in the final 'battle round' of ITV singing show The Voice.

Dubliner Shauna Byrne (16) was defeated by Gevanni Hutton in their duet of the John Lennon classic Imagine.

Cork native Sarah Goodwin, a soul and jazz singer, also failed to make it through as part of vocal trio Belle Noir,

They were up against Cat Cavelli, an ex-girlfriend of actor Jude Law, in a performance of Tone and I's Dance Monkey.

Brian Corbett, a 29-year-old bartender from Galway, also lost out to to Cameo Williams singing Eternal Flames by The Bangles.

However, Co Derry camogie player Brooke Scullion is still in contention for the contest previously won by Andrea Begley from Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, having secured her place in the finals the week before.

The 20-year-old, a student at University of Ulster and a senior player for Wolfe Tones GAC in Bellaghy will appear in the knock-out rounds starting this Saturday.
