Gardai investigating a fatal shooting in Dublin on Thursday night say they do not believe that the incident is part of the wider Dublin gangland feud.
Zach Parker (23) was fatally shot at Applewood Close in Swords as he sat in a BMW car with a friend after leaving a nearby gym.
At around 7.30pm a lone gunman fired at least five shots into the driver's side window of the slow-moving car as it was driven from Applewood Close onto Jugback Lane.
The driver of the car, Mr Parker who is from Swords, was killed, while his passenger, a 25-year-old man also from the area, was seriously injured and taken by Ambulance to Beaumont Hospital.
The gunman left the scene on foot onto Jugback Lane in the direction of Balheary Road.
Mr Parker's body has been removed to the City Morgue, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted on Thursday by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster.
The passenger remains in Beaumont Hospital where his condition is understood to be serious but stable.
Superintendent Gerard Donnelly from Swords Garda Station held a press conference today seeking to reassure the public.
"There is nothing to suggest at this stage that this is involved with any of the major gangland feuds around the Dublin area, all indications are at this stage that it's probably local, but we're at the early stages of an investigation and keeping all avenues of investigation open, we don't have a specific motive in relation to this shooting," he said.
"This is a very quiet area, there is nothing to suggest this locality is linked to the crime, it's just happened here because this person attended this gym.
"There is nothing to suggest that the injured man was targeted in any way, all indication seem to be that it was the driver that was targeted."
It is understood the victim Mr Parker was already known to Gardai.
Mr Donnelly added that thoughts should be with the affected families.
"I'd like us all to bear in mind, there is a grieving family here, the Parker family, I would ask that their privacy is respected as they grieve for their young son Zachary."
Mr Donnelly added: "My appeal is for witnesses who may have been in the Applewood area between 6.30pm and 8pm last night, particularly those around the Gym Plus premises, the Balheary Road area and any motorists with dash-cam footage to make it available.
"The gunman described as tall, of athletic build and wearing a black hoodie top with a black scarf covering his face, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with white soles.
"It's understood he was carrying a grey or light coloured rucksack that may have concealed the firearm.

A local woman who works in offices close to the gym told the Press Association the community is in shock.
"We've never had anything like this before, it's so quiet, there's a little creche here and everything," she said.
"I left work around 7pm last night and I keep thinking if I had left any later I might have seen something, it's scary."
No arrests have been made to date and enquiries are ongoing.
