A 27-year-old man has died after the van he was driving crashed into the side of a vacant house near Ballybofey in Co Donegal.
The man, who is from the Killybegs area, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle crashed at Cashelnavene, five miles south of Ballybofey and close to Barnesmore Gap around 11.15pm on Monday. The victim was the sole occupant of the van.
Donegal Garda inspector Michael Harrison appealed to anyone who saw the victim’s white Transit van on the road on Monday night to contact police at Letterkenny.
Monday night’s accident was the second road fatality in Co Donegal within four days. Pensioner, Jane Crane, who was originally from Northern Ireland but was living in Dunlewey was killed in a single-car collision in the west of the county.
Ms Crane, who was in her 70s, died when her car left the road between Dunlewey and Crolly on Friday afternoon.
