A BODY has been found in the search for a woman who had been feared abducted in the Republic.

A large search operation to find Jastine Valdez (24) had been taking place in a wooded area in the Rathmichael area of south Dublin after her purse was found at a disused golf course there earlier today.

Ms Valdez from Enniskerry in Co Wicklow, was last seen being bundled into a Nissan Qashqai SUV near her home on Saturday evening.

A suspect was shot dead by an officer in a confrontation on Sunday evening after gardai traced the vehicle to the Cherrywood business district south of Dublin.

The man who was killed has been named locally as 40-year-old Mark Hennessy, from Bray, in Co Wicklow.

The Republic's police watchdog, the Garda Siochana Ombudsman's Commission, is investigating the shooting.

This afternoon gardai searching for Ms Valdez confirmed a body had been found in the Puckscastle area of south Dublin but said no formal identification had yet taken place.

They appealed for privacy for the Valdaz family.
