AN appeal has been launched for a lucky Lotto winner who bought their ticket at a border service station.

The golden ticket worth more than €4.4 million was bought on Saturday at Daly’s Topaz on the Letterkenny Road in Lifford, Co Donegal.

The shop near Strabane, Co Tyrone is popular with cross-border motorists.

The winning numbers were 1, 2, 7, 33, 34, 40 and the bonus number was 6.

The luck didn’t stop there for Donegal, as a ticket bought 30 miles away in Carndonagh matched five numbers and the bonus, winning a player more than €283,000.

The Quick Pick ticket was also sold on Saturday at G & S Supermarket on Church Road in Carndonagh.

Dermot Griffin of the National Lottery urged all players who purchased a ticket in the Lifford and Carndonagh regions of Donegal to check their tickets.

If you are one of those two lucky ticketholders, sign the back of the ticket and contact the National Lottery on (00 353) +1 836 4444.
