A PROSPECTIVE juror has been excused from jury service with the "blessing" of a criminal court judge to go on a romantic getaway after finding love for the first time aged 54.
The judge at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin granted the leave on Tuesday and it quickly went viral on social media after being recounted by a journalist who was in the courtroom.

Man: I can’t serve; I’m away for weekend.
Judge: We don’t sit at weekends.
Man: I’m away till Monday. I’m 54, a bachelor & it’s my 1st time in love.
Judge: Then you GO and you GO with my blessing.
It was truly an epic moment ??
Ms Murphy said the judge "was positively beaming... I had to force myself not to stand up and applaud".
