THE death of an 11-month-old boy at an apartment complex in Killarney, Co Kerry is being investigated by gardai.
Emergency services were called to the home at Park Place on Upper High Street shortly before 6pm on Sunday evening, where paramedics treated the baby.
However, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A man in his thirties with serious injuries was taken from the scene by ambulance to Tralee University Hospital.
However, the baby's body remained at the scene last night while a preliminary examination was be carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster.
It has been reported that the injured man is of eastern European origin and a translator was seen at the scene.
A Garda spokesman said yesterday: "Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of an 11-month-old baby boy at an apartment complex in Killarney."
