UKIP leader Nigel Farage and Shadow Secretary of State Vernon Coaker last night debated the consequences of a possible UK exit from the European Union.

The pair took to the stage in a high-profile debate at Ulster University's Belfast campus ahead of June's Brexit referendum.

Mr Farage is campaigning for a 'leave' vote while Mr Coaker argued the move would have serious implications for the north, particularly the possibility of new border controls.

The pair also clashed on other issues linked to a possible Brexit, including immigration, jobs and foreign investment.

Mr Farage will also take part in the fourth public meeting of the Brexit 'Grassroots Out' campaign at Titanic Exhibition Centre on Friday.

It follows events in Kettering, Manchester and London.

Other speakers at the rally will include TUV leader Jim Allister, DUP MP Sammy Wilson and Labour MP Kate Hoey.

The referendum on whether the UK should remain in the European Union will be held on Thursday June 23.
