TUV leader Jim Allister has accused Stormont authorities of "overreacting" amid reports three people have been sacked from the assembly staff over use of social media.

A further three people are said to be facing disciplinary action.

The Northern Ireland Assembly has refused to comment on the claims, saying it "does not comment on personnel and human resource matters".

Mr Allister said while the letter of the assembly's policy on use of social media may have been breached, the dismissals were "totally disproportionate".

He said he has tabled a written question asking the Assembly Commission how many staff have been disciplined and the outcome of the actions.
