Irish music icon Christy Moore is to take to the stage in Belfast next summer.

The legendary singer/song-writer is set to perform an outdoor gig at Live At Botanic Gardens on June 2 2024.

He is the first act to be announced for the annual south Belfast music festival, which this year saw Olly Murs, Sugababes and Lush! Classic perform.

The Kildare-born artist, whose career has spanned more than seven decades, is regarded as one of the most compelling and inspirational musicians Ireland has ever seen.

He has released 30 solo albums, from Paddy on the Road (1969) through to his multi-platinum pair of live albums, On the Road and Magic Nights (2017 and 2019).

The singer co-founded two of Ireland's most iconic bands, Planxty and Moving Hearts, before embarking on an accomplished solo career.

He is known for connecting with the listener in a bid to transmit the meaning of the songs he sings, endearing him to audiences of all ages.
