Man (67) released following arrest in connection with Sean Fox murder in west Belfast

A 67-year-old man arrested by police investigating the murder of Sean Fox in west Belfast last year has been released following questioning.

The man was detained under the the Terrorism Act in the west of the city on Monday morning. 

Mr Fox (42) was shot dead as he watched a football match at Donegal Celtic FC social club on the Suffolk Road on October 2.

The married father-of-two was a regular visitor to the club, according to police.

Detectives said at the time of the killing that more than 20 bullets were fired at the victim by two masked gunmen during the attack, which lasted around 21 seconds.

A PSNI spokeswoman said on Monday evening that the man detained earlier was released following questioning, adding: "The investigation is ongoing."
