A 14-year-old boy has been stopped by police driving a JCB on a busy road in Co Tyrone.

The teenager was spotted in the telehandler on the Main Road in the Moygashel area on Wednesday shortly before 10pm.

Police said the boy was cautioned for driving-related offences and a report has been sent to the Youth Diversion Officer.

In a post on the PSNI's Road Policing and Safety Facebook page, it said: "While patrolling in Dungannon last night, officers from Mahon Road station spotted this JCB telehandler being driven by an unusually young looking driver.

"When we stopped the vehicle we discovered the driver was just 14 years old and had taken the machine without his parents knowledge.

"After speaking with the boys parents, he will now be reported for a number of offences."
