THE two young teenagers killed in an Easter Monday road crash in Co Galway will be laid to rest following funerals in the days ahead.
Lukas Joyce and Kirsty Bohan, both aged 14, died after the collision in the Headford area on Monday morning.
The pair were traveling in a car along with two other young teens when it struck a tree at high speed at around 5.45am.
Lukas was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency services arrived.
Kirsty later died after being rushed to University Hospital Galway.
A 13-year-old boy, who was behind the wheel of the car when the crash happened, and another 14-year-old girl, remain in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash involving the teenagers, all of whom attended Presentation College Headford. The school has implemented a Critical Incident Plan to help fellow pupils following the tragedy.
Acting principal, Orla Jackson, hosted a support event for grieving pupils and their parents at the school on Tuesday, saying the gathering was "to support and carry each other through this very dark time in our community".
In an interview with RTÉ, Ms Jackson said Kirsty and Lukas were "very treasured members of our school".

A funeral notice described the teenager as "sorely missed by her heartbroken parents Christy and Theresa, her sisters Martha and Ava, her nana Peggy, Godparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and a wide circle of friends and school mates".
