Man (29) arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty offences in relation to dog found partially buried alive

A man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty offences in relation to a dog that was found partially buried alive.
Luna, an American bulldog, was put down by a vet after she was found by a member of the public in Ballyarnett Country Park in Derry.
The incident was reported to the police on Wednesday.
It is believed the dog suffered suspected brain damage, broken ribs and suspected collapsed lungs.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on Thursday at a house in the Carnhill area of Derry.
Police said three dogs were also removed from the property and placed into care for their wellbeing.
Inquiries are continuing.
