Eve Hewson, Jessie Buckley and Kerry Condon were all honoured at the annual Irish pre-Oscars gathering in California.
The Oscar Wilde Awards, organised by the US-Ireland Alliance and held at J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company in Santa Monica, attracts many of the film industry’s heavy hitters.
An Cailin Ciuin (The Quiet Girl), the first Irish-language film to be nominated for an Academy Award, received a special recognition award at Thursday’s event. The Irish are up for awards in multiple categories.
Kerry Condon, up for best supporting actress for her role in the Banshees of Inisherin, was presented with her Oscar Wilde Award by Rhea Seehorn of Better Call Saul.
Eve Hewson received the ‘Wilde Card’ award, presented to a rising talent. She appeared last year in television series, Bad Sisters, and played a lead performance in John Carney’s Flora and Son.
Jessie Buckley, nominated last year for her performance in The Lost Daughter, was also honoured with an Oscar Wilde award.
Arts Minister Catherine Martin presented a special award to The Quiet Girl producers. She said the film has “captured the hearts of so many and done so much to promote our beloved native language.”
The Oscars take place this Sunday at the Dolby Theater In Los Angeles.
