Three assaulted during darts brawl in SSE Belfast

POLICE in Belfast are investigating reports that three people were assaulted when audience members started fighting during a darts competition.

Online footage emerged showing multiple people trading blows in the stands of the SSE Arena during Thursday night's Premier League Darts event.

A PSNI spokesperson said officers were informed of an altercation involving a number of people during a sporting event in east Belfast.

"It was reported to police that two men and a women were assaulted during the incident, however no serious injuries were reported," they said.

Enquiries are ongoing and police have asked anyone with relevant information to call 101.

Away from the drama in the audience, Thursday night's event also saw English darts player Chris Dobey beat dutch player and defending champion Michael Van Gerwen.
