THE slogan for this year's Eurovision Song Contest has been announced as United By Music.

Alongside the slogan, artwork showing hearts beating together in the colours of the Ukrainian and UK flags have also been unveiled by the BBC.

Last year, Ukraine took the win with Kalush Orchestra but was deemed unable to host this year because of the Russian invasion.

As the UK came second with singer Sam Ryder, it took over the responsibility for organising the event before Liverpool was chosen as host city.

The BBC said the new slogan "reflects the very origins of the contest, developed to bring Europe closer together through a shared TV experience across different countries".

Martin Green, managing director of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 said: "This year's identity sums up perfectly the amazing partnerships across the contest and more importantly the power of music to bring people together across the world."

Meanwhile, a Co Galway singer is the favourite to represent Ireland in this year's contest. Connolly, which is the stage name of 20-year-old creative music production student, Jennifer Connolly, is gearing up to compete against five other acts for the opportunity.

BoyleSports has slashed her chances from 11/8 from 2/1 this week ahead of Friday night's Late Late Show, when national and international juries will combine with a public vote to determine who will front Ireland's bid to end a 27-year run without a Eurovision victory.

The other acts include Dublin-based Leila Jane, Wild Youth, K Muni & ND and Public Image Limited, which is fronted by John Lydon.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesman for BoyleSports said: "At the minute, it’s too close to call who will get the nod on The Late Late Show this Friday so may the best act win."
