POLICE have appealed for information after a wheelchair ramp was stolen in south Belfast.

The accessibility ramp was taken from outside a house in Sunnyside Drive on Tuesday, January 17 between between 4.15pm and 5.30pm.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information which could assist with our investigation is asked to call on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1532 17/01/23".

SDLP councillor Gary McKeown said: "I'm disgusted that anyone would do something like this, being so cold-hearted that they would remove a wheelchair access ramp from outside someone's home.

"Equipment like this is a lifeline for anyone with a disability, so for it to be taken could have a real impact on wellbeing and quality of life. Sunnyside Street is very busy, particularly at the time of the day that this incident took place, so I would urge anyone with any information to please contact the police."
