TWO people were released last night by police investigating a report of shots being fired during a bonfire in Derry.

A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were arrested following searches of two properties in the Bogside/Brandywell areas yesterday.

The arrests relate to shots fired in the Meenan Square area of the Bogside on August 15.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A number of items were seized for examination.

"A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man have been arrested under the Terrorism Act, and taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station for questioning."

The pair were later released following questioning.

"Our enquiries continue, and I would reiterate our appeal for anyone with information to contact us on 101," the spokesperson said.
