Man (25) arrested by police investigating report of shots fired at Derry bonfire

A 25-year-old man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act by police investigating reports of shots being fired at an August bonfire in Derry.

Members of the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit made the arrest following searches in the city.

Police are continuing to investigate reports that shots were fired at the bonfire in the Bogside area on August 15.

PSNI Detective Inspector Clara Heaton said a number of items were also seized during Tuesday's searches.

The man arrested was taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Belfast's Musgrave Police station for questioning and has been released.
