A YOUNG GAA player who was killed in a road crash in Co Tyrone will be laid to rest today.
John Rafferty (21) from Killyclogher, died in a collision between a car and a tractor, on the A5 at Beragh on Thursday evening.
The sportsman had been driving a grey Seat Leon car.
The crash took place between Ballygawley and Omagh at around 7.55pm.
Mr Rafferty, who was described by his club, Killyclogher GAA, as someone whose "talent, effort and attitude made him stand out as an exceptional player" was also a member of the 2020 Tyrone U20 panel.
Killyclogher GAA said it was "devastated" by the loss of the young player, who was studying to become a quantity surveyor.
In a tribute, the club said: "Although a younger member of the senior squad, John was admired and respected by all involved because of the pure honesty of his performances, whether that was in training or in matches.
"Although supremely focused in training and match situations, never settling for anything below the best, John was full of fun which will leave a massive gap in our club".
Requiem Mass for John Rafferty will take place today at 10am at St Mary's Church, Killyclogher. Burial will take place afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
