REQUIEM Mass for west Belfast stabbing victim Tony Browne will take place tomorrow.

Mr Browne, who was 54, died in hospital after a stabbing at a house in Woodside Park in the Poleglass area on Friday.

Wiktoria Maksymowicz (33), with an address in Woodside Park, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court earlier this week via videolink charged with the father-of-three's murder. The charge was read to the defendant via a Polish interpreter. Ms Maksymowicz, who is a Polish national, replied that she understood the charge against her.

No application for bail was made and Ms Maksymowicz was remanded in custody until November 14.

Mr Browne was described as a "gentle giant" by his sister, Patricia Browne.

Speaking to BBC Northern Ireland, she said her family had been left "traumatised" by his death.

"I’m lost for words. I can’t get it. Tony wouldn’t hurt a fly. He had three beautiful kids, two wee twins he just adored and a son," she said.

"He would have told me that he couldn’t wait to see them walk down the aisle, how gorgeous they were. It’s never going to happen. “I don’t know how we move on from this. His poor kids, his poor wee son".

Requiem Mass for Mr Browne will take place at 6pm today at Church of the Nativity in Poleglass.

A service will take place at Roselawn Crematorium tomorrow at 10.40am.
