STAFF and students at St Mary's University College in Belfast have met Sinn Féin's Michelle O'Neill.

The Sinn Féin deputy leader held discussions with college principal, Professor Peter Finn, as well as members of the board of governors and college staff.

Ms O'Neill was accompanied by party colleagues, Paul Maskey, Caoimhe Archibald and Pat Sheehan during the visit to the Falls Road campus, which coincided with World Teachers’ Day.

The delegation undertook a walking tour of the campus during which they met St Mary’s students, international students and members of both the academic and support staff.

Ms O'Neill also visited An tÁisaonad Lan Gaeilge, the Irish-medium resource unit, which is based at St Mary’s.

Professor Finn said he was "delighted that Michelle O’Neill endorsed the importance of World Teachers’ Day and visited our campus where we have been education teachers since 1900".
