A 31-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating an armed robbery in the Carryduff area.

The man was arrested by officers investigating the robbery on Sunday, along with an attempted robbery in the Ormeau Road area of south Belfast on Monday.

He was detained on suspicion of offences including robbery, attempted robbery and carrying a firearm with criminal intent.

The man remained in police custody last night.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Our investigation into these incidents are continuing and we are reiterating our appeal for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in Carryduff shortly before 9pm on Sunday October 2nd or the Ormeau Road on Monday October 3rd at 1pm, or who may have dashcam footage that can assist us to contact 101 quoting reference number 1869 02/10/22."
