BALLYMENA murder victim Victor Hamilton has been laid to rest following a funeral service in Co Antrim.

A service was held for the 63-year-old father-of-one in a Carrickfergus funeral home yesterday afternoon before he was buried at the town's Victoria Cemetery.

A funeral notice described Mr Hamilton as the "loving son of the late Victor & Colette, Father of Thomas, brother of Terry, Elizabeth, Wendy and Michele, brother-in-law of Lesley, Bobby, Danny and Glen".

It added that he was a "grandad, and a much-loved uncle".

Following the service, loved ones followed his coffin from the Irish Quarter South funeral home in a procession towards the cemetery.

Mr Hamilton was found dead in the driveway of his Ballymena home at Orkney Drive in the town's Ballykeel 2 estate on the morning of July 26.

To date, police have charged three people with his murder, and all have since been remanded in custody following court appearances.

A 23-year-old woman arrested during enquiries into the death has been freed on police bail pending further enquiries.
