IRISH language campaigners gathered in west Belfast yesterday to launch a new website.

Cuisle Nic Liam from An Dream Dearg described the initiative as "an exciting new chapter in the ongoing campaign for language rights".

"Dearg.ie will create a new space for Irish language activists to engage and interact," he said.

"The website is an interactive tool aimed at platforming the Irish language community and connecting them directly to decision-makers and local authorities.

"We want this to be a digital space that records the fascinating history of our campaign for language rights, whilst also pointing us in the right direction on the long road ahead as we continue our struggle for rights and equality."
