A 30-YEAR-OLD man arrested after a car struck two people outside a house in north Belfast remained in custody last night.

The man was arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and other crimes following the attack at Ashfield Gardens in the Skegoneill area shortly after 7am that morning.

Footage posted online shows a red Mazda car speeding towards a man and a woman as they stand outside a house following a verbal altercation.

The man can be seen shouting towards the driver of the red car before it turns towards the pair.

In the footage, the car strikes the pair and crushes the woman against a front door frame before it leaves the area.

A police spokeswoman said yesterday the man was still being questioned.

Police said on Sunday that the man and woman had suffered "serious injuries" and were taken to hospital.
