TWO men have been arrested after a Tesco delivery van was hijacked in Co Down.
It was reported that two men forced a driver from the vehicle at Georges Street in Newtownards at around 5pm on Friday.
The van was then driven from Newtownards through Dundonald and Holywood before a stinger device was used at Dee Street, which brought the vehicle to a halt a nearby Sydenham bypass.
The pair, aged 23 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including hijacking, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and assault on police.
Both remained in custody last night.
A police spokesman said there had been a number of reports of collisions involving the stolen van.
