A PROTEST will take place in Belfast city centre this weekend to demand action over rising energy costs.

The demonstration by the Cost of Living Coalition Belfast will be held at the Department for the Economy’s Adelaide Street headquarters on Saturday at 1pm.

Organisers have criticised Stormont ministers who have "stood idly by" during the current cost of living crisis that has seen bills rise despite energy firms recording huge profits.

A statement from the Cost of Living Coalition said working class people in the north were bearing the brunt of the crisis.

Saturday's protest will follow today's Assembly recall by the SDLP that aims to get Stormont institutions up and running to tackle rising costs facing families.
