THE impact of war on the EU will be addressed in the second 'John Hume European Spirit of Peace' lecture today.

Organised by the John and Pat Hume Foundation, along with the Institute of International and European Affairs, it will be delivered by Professor Brigid Laffan.

Hume Foundation chairman, Sean Farren said he was delighted that Professor Laffan, emeritus professor at the European University Institute in Florence, had agreed to deliver the lecture.

"As we witness the terrible price to be paid for conflict in Ukraine, the EU spirit of cooperation, partnership and trust is now needed more than ever," Dr Farren said.
