THE first blessing of the graves since the pandemic is due to take place this Sunday in Kilkeel, Co Down.

The ceremony will take place at 2pm on June 26 at St Colman’s Church.

As an important and well supported event within the Upper Mourne parish, there had previously been parking issues on the main Newry Road and the adjoining Drumcro Road.

To assist with this year’s arrangements, the neighbouring grounds of St Louis Grammar School will be open for parking from 1pm to 5.30pm with volunteers giving directions on the site.

The school will also be celebrating its centenary with tea and coffee available and an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to the NI Cancer Fund for Children.
