A MAN was last night being treated in hospital after he was shot in both legs in west Belfast.

Police have appealed for information about the shooting, which happened in the Forfar Lane area on Monday at around 9.15pm.

A police spokesperson said the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey condemned the shooting.

"There is no place for this type of activity and those responsible should get off the backs of the community," he said.

"Anyone with information on this attack should bring it forward to the police."
