A VIABLE device was discovered during a security alert in Co Armagh.

Police said it was found in the Ballymoyer Road area of Whitecross on Monday night.

A PSNI spokesman said police and ammunition technical officers attended the scene after a suspicious object was found. It was later declared as a viable device and taken away for further examination.

The road reopened shortly after midnight.

Police appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
