Man attacked and threatened with knife during south Belfast robbery

A MAN has been attacked and threatened with a knife during a robbery in south Belfast.

The victim, aged in his twenties and a woman aged in her forties were standing outside commercial premises in the Ormeau Road area at around 7.50pm yesterday when they were approached by two men.

The victim was then threatened with a knife and after a struggle was punched and kicked in the face, head, stomach and back as he lay on the ground.

The woman was also kicked in the chest when she tried to intervene.

The men then made off with two mobile phones, a bank card and a sum of money.

One of the attackers is described as 6ft 3inches in height and was wearing a white jacket and black tracksuit bottoms.

The second man is described as being 5ft 8inches in height, of slim build and wearing a dark coloured tracksuit.

A 23-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of robbery.
