A MAN has suffered knife wounds after a robber forced his way into his car in Co Antrim.

Police said the attack happened in Ahoghil at around 2.30am yesterday when a man in his 20s pulled up in a car outside retail premises in the Galgorm Road area.

A female in her late teens was also in the car, and an unknown male armed with a knife pulled open the passenger door and demanded the pair hand over cash.

A PSNI spokesperson said the driver pulled away from the spot they were parked in, but the man with the knife hung onto the vehicle.

He then climbed inside and on top of the female passenger.

"There was an altercation inside the vehicle and the male injured party sustained a knife wound to his hand which required hospital treatment," the spokesperson said.

"The suspect then fled the scene on foot with a small sum of cash.

"He was described as being around six feet tall and was wearing a black tracksuit top with a full zip and hood, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and a black baseball cap with a logo on it. He was also wearing a black and camouflage face mask."

The spokesperson said the two victims suffered a "terrifying ordeal", adding: "We would ask anyone who may have any information, including dash cam or other footage to contact police on 101".
