Allianz leagues to be streamed

The BBC are set to stream this year's Allianz leagues

THE BBC is set to live stream the GAA Allianz League matches for the first time this year.

A game will be featured every week on the on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport NI website as the new schedule gets underway.

The coverage will begin when Derry and Down clash in their Division Two opener at Owenbeg on Saturday.

The Mourne men will feature again the following week when Galway travel to Newry.

Attention will then turn to hurling when Antrim take on Dublin at Corrigan Park in Division One on Saturday, February 12.

The Division One all-Ulster clash between Armagh and Monaghan will be broadcast from the Athletic grounds on February 19.

The coverage on February 26 will feature Down V Roscommon in Division Two while Armagh's tie with Kildare will be covered on March 12.

GAA president Larry McCarthy welcomed the additional coverage.

"This new weekly slot, featuring live Allianz Football and Hurling League action, will enhance our offering to both new and existing audiences at a time when our leagues have never been more popular," he told the BBC.

"I welcome and look forward to the coverage, not just on match days, but on various BBC platforms for supporters across the island."
