Covid-19: Two more deaths as 3,879 new cases recorded

A further two people who previously tested positive for Covid-19 in Northern Ireland have died, the Department of Health said.

It brings the total number of deaths to 3,056.

Another 3,879 confirmed cases of the virus were also recorded in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

This morning, there were 402 Covid-positive patients in hospital, with 24 in intensive care. Of these, 21 are on ventilation.

Hospitals are over capacity by 147 beds.

Today's figures were released as the Stormont Executive is meeting to discuss the removal of Covid restrictions amid speculation vaccination passports for pubs and restaurants are set to be axed.
