Covid: 15 deaths and 30,423 new cases in Northern Ireland

A further 15 deaths of patients who previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been notified in Northern Ireland.

Another 30,423 cases of the virus were also confirmed.

The figures cover several days from midnight on December 30 to midnight on January 3 2022.

On Tuesday morning there were 348 Covid positive inpatients in hospital, of whom 31 were in intensive care.

The seven day incidence rate per 100,000 is 2,673.5, which is the highest ever figure. The highest rate is in Derry and Strabane at 4,453.2 and the lowest in Mid and East Antrim at 1,876.9. Hospital admissions are up slightly from 188 to 193 and the number of Covid inpatients up from 336 to 348 during the past seven days
