Flat in Antrim damaged following arson attack

A FLAT in Antrim has been damaged following an arson attack.

Police were called to Portlee Walk at approximately 8.20pm on Sunday to report a rag had been placed into the letterbox of the property and lit with an accelerant.

Damage was caused to the hallway of the flat, the communal hallway area and the door and the rest of the property suffered substantial smoke damage.

The householder was not present when this attack took place.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was a "deliberate ignition".

A PSNI spokeswoman appealed to anyone in the area at the time the incident took place or may have CCTV footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1915 19/12/21 or online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/
