Two men have been arrested after a man in his 20s was attacked with hammers in north Belfast.

Police received a report at about 8.40pm that a man aged in his 20’s had been attacked by men armed with hammers in the Cavehill Country Park in the Hightown Road area of the city.

The two men, aged in their thirties and forties, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.



The man in his 40s has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The other man remains in custody, assisting with enquiries at this time.
