THE east Belfast office the former Stormont speaker has been daubed with anti-protocol graffiti.

DUP MLA Robin Newton's Castlereagh Road premises had the words 'GFA (Good Friday Agreement) is dead' and 'Cowards' painted on an exterior wall earlier this week.

A DUP spokesperson condemned the vandalism and said the Northern Ireland Protocol "will not be removed using a spray can to graffiti walls".

"Political pressure has seen negotiations between the EU and UK reopen," the spokesperson said.

"Those must see the removal of the Irish Sea border or it will be incumbent upon the Government to take unilateral action to restore Northern Ireland's place within the UK internal market."
