Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by police investigating man found injured in field

POLICE investigating the discovery of a "severely injured" man in a Co Antrim field have arrested four men.

The man was found lying in a field at Lisnamurrican Road outside Broughshane on October 11 and remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

PSNI Detective Inspector Michael McCoy said a team of detectives have been "working tirelessly since this horrific incident".

He said three men aged 36, 39 and 51 were arrested in the Ballymena area, while a 38-year-old man was arrested in the greater Belfast area. They were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson and all four remained in police custody last night.

He added: "The investigation is continuing and I would like to repeat my appeal for anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to get in touch".
